Stay Fit.

Don't just work out to fit into a tight dress, make it apart of your life.

1. Exercise even if you only have 15 minutes that day to do so. Anything physical is better than nothing. I mean you can even do jumping jacks before you get into the shower!

2. Try not to plan your day by day work outs. Just go to the gym and see how you feel that day. If you plan ahead your going to feel forced into the work out and no one wants that!

3. Mix it up! Everyday try something different. Run, cycle, swim, do yoga, or even do work out videos. It makes working out fun and exciting instead of boring, and you all know what i'm talking about….(sitting on a stationary bike or working on the elliptical everyday can get old).

4. Buy a fitness tracker like the Fitbit or a Nike Fuel band. If you are a competitive person and strive for goals, then this is your way of motivation. With these devises you'll take those extra steps that one night or run 1 mile more that day to maintain your goals consistently, and you can compete with your friends!

5. Eat REAL FOOD! If you think eating a salad for every meal will help…it won't. It will only allow you to binge later on.

6. Don't drink during the week. Limit yourself to only the weekends. Alcohol can put a big damper on your body, and the results that you want.

7. Even when you are feeling a little sore, work out. Don't go to the gym and do intense lifting. Instead go on a light jog or go to a cycling class and take it easy that day. This will help alleviate your sore muscles quickly.

8. Remember the main goal isn't to run 8 miles everyday, it's to stay physical. Something is better than nothing. Even if that means you only want to do a 5 minute ab work out that day.

9. Don't be afraid of carbs! Carbs will give you energy to do your workouts everyday, and don't worry you'll burn them off anyway!

10. Drink A LOT of water, and add a lemon to your water. It will help detox you.

Snacks to stay away from:
Cheez-its, granola, baby carrots,
banana chips, bottled smoothies,
pretzels, rice cakes, and diet soda.

  1. Great article, Sara! Staying fit, active, and healthy leads to happiness! Oftentimes I find myself blaming school, work, and extracurricular activities on not working out. There is never enough time in the day! But when I make those comments to myself, I remember there IS enough time in the day, I just have to make time for the things that matter. I decided to take a workout class this semester at HPU to incorporate physical activity in my weekly routine. Over the past year, I have realized how important it is to stay fit and active. Although my Pilates class at HPU is only twice a week, I try to spend 20-30 minutes a day throughout the week to complete various workout videos. The motivation may be hard to find at times but the feeling after working out is incredible! I believe your tips about incorporating physical activity into your routine are insightful and inspiring. Thank you for the motivation and I look forward to reading your future posts!

  2. Thanks for another great post Sara! Your blog is one of my favorites to read! I completely agree that although many people incorporate fitness into their daily routine, very few people actually make it a lifestyle. It is so important to focus on your physical fitness and health, even though we so often find ourselves making excuses. You have some amazing tips at how to achieve a physically fit lifestyle! I was really happy you mentioned eating real food instead of just eating salads day in and day out. I think so many people get caught up in the idea of "eating healthy" that they forget about the importance of a balanced diet. I also think you made a great point to only drink on the weekends. It is shocking how much alcohol can affect your weight. Looking forward to reading more next week - thanks again Sara!

  3. I've really enjoyed your blog, Sara! This week's fitness tips were very useful as I feel like I don't do anything if I don't have an hour plus for intense activity. It has really slowed me down and I think I really needed to hear some of the tips you provided! Then you also provided great reviews of who of my favorite vacation spots - Charlestown and Southern California.
